Peppermint PR – the Hale-based marketing communications agency – has capped an exceptional start to 2010 by making a clean sweep at Thursday night’s Fresh PR Awards.
In total, the agency scooped three gongs, winning in every one of its shortlisted categories and beating off competition from around the UK. Peppermint walked away with the ‘Freshest PR Stunt and Event’, ‘Freshest Consumer Campaign’ and the ‘Freshest Low Budget PR Campaign’ awards. The triple honour was in recognition of Peppermint’s hugely successful campaign, ‘The Red Recession Dress’ – carried out on behalf of discount retailer, The Big Discount Store. Described by the judges as ‘iconic’, the campaign aimed to raise awareness of The Big Discount Store’s discount fashion offering online and drive traffic to the website. Within 24 hours of the campaign’s launch, the £9.99 dress sold-out on the e-tailer’s site, with online traffic increasing by 210 per cent. The campaign was praised by a select panel of judges – headed by one of the UK’s most illustrious PR consultants, Mark Borkowski – as ‘clever hijacking of the news agenda that got everyone talking about it’. Having originally entered just two categories, Peppermint was put forward for two additional awards by the judges – ‘Freshest PR Stunt and Event’ and the non-shortlisted ‘Grand Prix Award’ category. After being crowned winners of the ‘PR Stunt and Event’ category, Peppermint was narrowly pipped to the Grand Prix-post by the team behind the hugely successful J’aime la Tour campaign – a campaign to alter the perception of Blackpool as a holiday destination. Suzy Glaskie, founding director at Peppermint PR, said: “We’re thrilled to have beaten off competition from around the country to clinch a hat-trick of awards. The Big Discount Store is part of highly respected international retail brand, The Otto Group, and we’re proud to have achieved such a significant return on investment for the retailer.” The latest accolades comes hot-on-the-heels of Peppermint’s recent nomination at the 2009 Chartered Institute of Public Relations Awards for ‘Best Consumer Relations’. It was also named as one of the ‘Best Places to Work’ at Crain’s Manchester Business’s inaugural awards last year. Thursday’s event marked the second year of the Fresh PR Awards, which celebrates the best and the brightest in the UK’s PR industry. |
